Hello All,

I thought you would like to know that Doc Burrows had a good send-off and there were six representatives of the school in the congregation. Here are a couple of pages from the Order of Service:-

As regards OWT, thank you for the great response that Dennis has received but please keep your memories of the school coming!

At present twenty-five Old Wyves have booked for the Lunch on the 20th March so there are only about ten places left. Please let me know if you want to come. There is no advance payment.

Hello All,

Firstly it's my sad duty to tell you that Arnold 'Doc' Burrows passed away peacefully in his sleep on Boxing Day night. He was 95. His son, Simon, advises that the funeral will be on Thursday 25th January, 2:00pm at St Mary & All Saints Church, Stoughton, Leicestershire and will be followed by a gathering at the Cow & Plough pub restaurant, 2 Gartree Road, Oadby, Leicester LE2 2FB. Any Wyvernians who knew him will be most welcome to attend.

Secondly, please note that the deadline for contributions to the next OWT is February 29th. Dennis is short of material at present so please pen a few lines or a few paragraphs of any stories from your schooldays and send them to Dennis. His email address is djduggan2023@outlook.com As I've said before, no contributions = no OWT. Please help to keep it going.

Lastly we have a date for the next Old Wyves Lunch at Clarence House, which is Wednesday 20th March. Thanks to John Hames for liaising with Age UK. If you want to come please let me know - the room we use only holds 35 people maximum so book your place as soon as possible. No advance payment is required.

Ron Melia RIP (CBS 49-54?)

Dennis has received some more sad news - this time from regular reunion attender Trish Kenyon - who emails:-

".... Just wanted to let you know that my brother Ron (MELIA) born 14 May 1938 passed away on December 15th
He attended City Boys from age 11 but I don't think he stayed to Sixth Form. At previous reunions I have often been asked about him.
His funeral is at Gilroes Cemetery Leicester January 12th 3.00

Trish regularly attended our reunions to represent both of her brothers. Her oldest brother, Joe Melia, as well as being an ex-pupil, was a famed thespian who passed away in 2012 at the age of 77
